The ambiance created by flute music will perfectly compliment a wedding or other special event. As an experienced performer at venues ranging from major concert halls such as the Royal Festival Hall to church weddings, and more intimate celebrations at settings such as Highclere Castle, Samantha can help you choose music that will perfectly suit your occasion and will accommodate any special requests you may have.
Samantha also plays as part of an incredibly popular flute and harp duo, Acacia Harp & Flute, also represented by First & Foremost Entertainment.
Samantha was born in Kent and began learning the flute at the age of 8. At 13 she won a scholarship to study under David Nicholson in Aberdeen, and became a member of the National Youth Orchestras of Great Britain and Scotland, performing in St Paul’s Cathedral and in the BBC Proms with conductors including Neville Marriner and Richard Hickox.
In 2007 Samantha won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, from which she graduated with 1st Class Honors and the Chris Taylor Flute prize, studying with Karen Jones, William Bennett, Pat Morris, and baroque flute under Lisa Beznosiuk.
As principal flute with many of the Academy’s orchestras, Samantha has performed under Sir Simon Rattle, Leif Segerstam and Yan Pascal Tortelier. Other performances include playing with the London Sinfonietta under George Benjamin, and a recording workshop with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Samantha won first prize in the Academy’s ‘All Flutes Plus Flute Prize’ 2010 and won the chance to perform Ibert’s flute Concerto with RAM Concert Orchestra in May 2011. Samantha performs in a flute and guitar duo for the charity Live Music Now, and has played period flute with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Dunedin Consort. She was also a member of the OAE Ann and Peter Law Orchestral Experience 2011.
She was awarded the June Allison Wood Wind Award 2012 by the Philharmonia Orchestra / Martin Musical Scholarship towards her postgraduate studies in Cologne, Germany with Professor Robert Winn and has since performed solo recitals in St Mary’s Westminster and the Royal Festival Hall.
Since returning from Cologne, Samantha has been performing with a number of orchestras including the London Handel orchestra and Orpheus Sinfonia, with trials from Scottish Opera and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
First & Foremost Entertainment have absolutely no hesitation is recommending this incredibly gifted flautist, either as a soloist or part of a duo.
